I had never subscribed for a beauty bag before I checked out the Fab Bag contents from my sister-in-law. She had subscribed and was very satisfied with the products. Just shy of hitting the 33 mark, I decided to gift a subscription to my ageing self. I must say I’m pretty impressed with the products and their results to start this column itself. I’ve used the common beauty and skin products available in the market and most of them are so full of chemicals that they’re not of much use. I wanted to try the best organic, handmade and less-chemical products.
If you still haven’t subscribed The Fab Bag, do so now.
I received the bag within 10 days of subscription and I must tell you that I was eagerly waiting, excited as a kid for a Christmas present. Well, New Year, at least!
The bag in itself is metallic pink and glossy this time. I’m not a fan of pink but thankfully this one isn’t much the neon stuff. It’s not bad even for a pinkphobic person, and in pretty good quality. I’d surely use it as a handy cute little carry on bag for my make-up.
The contents in this bag were: Laqa & Co. Fat Lip Pencil in Jammy Bastard shade, Bioderma Sensible H2O Makeup Removing Micelle Solution, Splurge Daily Moisturizer with Sun Protection and Seasoul Dead Sea Facial Mud Mask. Since the theme for this month is ‘Beauty Unmasked’, they sent a lovely shining mask for parties later!
1. Laqa & Co. Fat Lip Pencil – It is an expensive product and I haven’t ever used it. They’ve sent a full product instead of just a sample. The shade, Jammy Bastard, is beautiful. It’s a rich one, the texture is smooth, not too glossy, kind of a matte finish. The idea of a fat lip pencil is to cover a large area in a single sweep and it does so perfectly. It stays for really long and is smudge-proof. Overall, it’s a great product. And you know a lipstick is really good when your husband notices and compliments it!
Price – Rs 800 for 3 g.
2. Bioderma Sensible H2O Makeup Removing Micelle Solution – I received a 10 mL sample of this one in my Fab Bag and I’m yet to use it. But I think it should be a good one as make-up removing solutions are a necessary for everyone. It’s a cleanser as well as the description says. I’m hoping the sample would be good enough for me to buy the full-sized product.
Price – Rs 860 for 250 mL
3. Splurge Daily Moisturiser with Sun Protection – I’ve been using this one for 5 days now. It’s the best product in this bag, hands on! The handmade moisturiser is supposed to contain good stuff like almond oil, shea butter, and wheatgerm. It’s incredibly light and yet stays for many hours on your skin. The texture is smooth and it has a wonderful scent. I can already feel my skin going smooth with each day after applying Splurge. Not sure about the sun protection as I didn’t try before venturing out. I’d definitely like to purchase the full-sized product. What I received is a 35 mL sample.
Price – Rs 420 for 100 mL
4. Seasoul Dead Sea Facial Mud Mask – I was in need of a good mask as everyone else is. I’ve never tried a mud mask before and I was curious to use this one. The description was alluring enough to invest 15 minutes and apply the non-fragrant mud on my face and neck. It is of a thick and smooth texture, dries easily and has to be washed with warm water. I was a little sceptical as it induced a little burning feeling after application though I was pretty sure I’m not allergic to any of the ingredients. It has a moisturising effect due to Argan oil after washing off and I could feel a tangible difference it my face. It made the skin taut, smooth and clear enough to make me feel lighter. A good product and I received a 50 g sample.
Price – Rs 3185 for 200 g
Verdict – I really liked my first Fab Bag and would rate the products 4/5. While few are sample sized, others are almost full-sized and it strikes a good balance. The Splurge Moisturiser with Sun Protection is the best one according to me.
Will look forward to my next Fab Bag and in the meanwhile, check out the other reviews.
